Hall of Fame Dance Competition April 08

Well today is Tuesday and I think I have finally recovered from the weekend. Mackenzie had her second dance competition this past weekend. I should have known we were in for a crazy weekend with how the week went. After practice on Tuesday Mackenzie had mentioned that her leg was kind of sore. We thought nothing of it since Tuesday is her long night of days. But she woke up Wednesday barley able to lift her right leg. Now her right leg is very important, its the one that does all the leg holds and tricks. (We really need to have it insured!) So I call her dance teacher and tell her whats going on and she is freaking out and starts giving me all kinds of different this to try to make her leg flexible again. Well I show up at school Thursday to help in the library and see me daughter coming in from recess limping. Okay now I'm freaking out since competition starts early Saturday morning. So we ice it and rest it Thursday night and pray that this will help whatever is wrong with her leg. Friday comes and this day is the worst ever. Mackenzie's leg still hurts in the morning so I send her to school with striked instructions that there is no running, jumping, or doing anything crazy at anytime during recess. Now my child then says to me, "I'll try but my mind tells me one thing and my feet do another". So I show up at lunch recess to make sure my crazy legged daughter is doing what she was told and yes she wasn't acting to crazy. So then I'm off to cord camera to have someone show me how to use my new camera. After I get a quick lesson on how to use my fast shutter my phone rings. Its Mariah's preschool! Mrs. Porter, I'm sorry to call and inform you but someone in Mariah's class has full blow lice! We think we might have found a nit on Mariah. So to the preschool I got to pick up my pour daughter that now has lice. So then I have to go pick up some lice shampoo to treat both of my daughters. Mackenzie gets off the bus and we have to go straight to trio practice which by this time I'm not sure how this will go. During practice she was still having a hard time getting her leg up and we were a little nerves on what to do for Saturday. Now this might now seem all that bad but Mackenzie does about 4 leg holds/tricks per dance. So we head home to start the getting rid of lice process. Now this process really sucks, you have to wash everything in hot water, bag up all stuffed animals and vacuum everything and every spot. So for the next 3 hours I go through both of my girls hear with that stupid little comb. I found a couple of nits on Mariah and I think I found one on Mackenzie but not sure. By this time its after 9pm and Mackenzie needs to be down at the competition by 7am, that means up by 5:30 am to start getting ready. There is alot to getting a dancer ready, hair, make-up, eye lashes, and first costume. The competition went well except for the judging was a little Boycie but I heard our studio is not one of their favorites. Here are a list of her dances:

Lyrical - When somebody loves me (from toy story) High Gold

Tap - Wild Wild Party - High Gold

Jazz - Devil with a blue dress - High Gold, 5th over all high point, Showmanship award

Trio - Girlfriend - Gold (Judged very hard since last competition they got a platinum)

Production - Beach boy Melody - High Gold

Everything went well with her leg, we stretched it out real well and hold her all dancers live through the pain. What a nice mom!!! So this Saturday we do it all over again. We were so lucky to have competitions back to back weekends. Here are a few pics and hopefully the slide show will work to the right so you and see all the pics.

Everyday still looking of nits!

Sounds like your life has been really CRAZY!! I really hope her legs feels better and there is no permanent damage. And lice, YUCK< YUCK< YUCK. I just hope everyone else in school treated their children too so it does not come back!! I've heard horror stories about it. I hope you get to relax soon!!
