Giving Grandpa his presents

Giving Grandma her presents

Giving Great Grandma her presents

This is something we started when Mackenzie was 3 and old enough to pick out a present for someone. This was important to me to teach her that Christmas is not always about getting but giving too. We took her to the dollar store and had her pick out gifts for all who would be in town that year. We have carried out that tradition and once they have turned 4 they have to earn their own money to shop with. This year we had a little trouble getting someone to save her money to buy her Christmas presents. So I made a rule, if you don't have anything to give then you will not receive your gifts from that person. My mom was a little taken back because how can a Grandma not give a present to a Grandchild but I didn't back down. If I didn't follow through with this then the last 5 years were wasted. I am proud to say that she stepped up and did extra chores and worked really hard to earn the money she needed. The girls had so much fun picking out their presents and wrapping them. They were so excited that they could hardly wait to give them to everyone. I am grateful that they know how important it is to give and not always expect something in return. We are very excited to teach Mason this principle.

I had to show these pictures of my Grandma my children's Great Grandma teaching my daughter how it hold her fingers on the guitar she got for Christmas. Mariah is very musical and really wanted a guitar for Christmas so that's what my mom got her. She loves that thing and carries it everywhere but Mason started to beat on it so we keeps it in her room now. We woke up the day after Christmas at 7am with the sound of Mariah on her guitar. Thanks MOM!!

Here's little man and his new basketball hoop and the girls on their tumbling mat.
We had a pretty eventful Christmas but one to not soon be forgotten. I am grateful to family and friends and the large part that they play in my life and the life of my family's. Thank you to all who shared this special time of year with us, we love you all!
