A Very Very Long Weekend

Mackenzie has been working very hard all year long with her new dance routes in anticipation for her first dance competition of the year. Well it finally came along with a bunch of other stuff. I woke up Friday morning so sick it wasn't even funny, probably a flu bug. Lets just say everything you could think of on a body hurt and I just couldn't believe this was happening. I had to get better fast and I didn't see anyway that was going to work with a full dance schedule the next day. Jen doesn't know this but I almost called on her to be me for a day, she is the only one I would trust with Mackenzie on a comp day. After a very miserable day and night I called on my husband at 4 in the morning to give me a blessing. I know Mackenzie was counting on me and the first comp is always the most stressful so I know I had to be there for her. after only a few hours of sleep I woke up feeling okay and knew I needed to pull it together for her. This next part might sound a little crazy but I got a face mask from my mom to wear so I wouldn't spread my germs. Needless to say I looked ridicules but if your a comp mom you would understand that we are in tight quarters with changing and we have another comp the following weekend and no dancer can get sick. So I did what I had to do and looked ridicules!
Mackenzie did an amazing job on Saturday and I was very proud of her on all her dances.

Tap- High Gold, over all 4th place petite category
Jazz- High Gold, over all 3rd place petite category
Lyrical- High Gold, over all 5th place petite category
Production - Platinum, over all 2nd place
Trio - Gold (very sad, not sure what happened no major mistakes)

Now during the lovely competition my husband is there with my other 2 kids and my mother. Well there was a little break between lyrical and production so Paul takes the kids out of the auditorium to get something to eat. While they are at a table Paul notices a puddle in the ground of something nasty, so what does he do but push on little mans bum and there it squirts all up his back. Lets just say it was way nasty and it smelled rancid! My husband got to love him handled it all himself, with a little help from a kid lady. I find them and I can see & smell the major catastrophe, all my sons clothes on the floor covered in poo! We were is luck I did throw a long sleeve shirt in the bag before we left. This is what our poor boy looked like afterwards.
Yes, those are high socks intended for Mackenzie but little man got to wear them first.

So I'm sure your asking what else could have happened this weekend. Well on Sunday we had a special stake meeting, Elder Russel M Nelson came and spoke to us. Now believe me I still felt awful but I thought if I can go and endure a dance competition all day Saturday and I can go to hear an Apostle speak. I went and am sure glad I did he had alot of wonderful things to say which I am putting to practice this week. I'm not telling what they are cause I don't need everyone knowing all my faults.
Well still feel like crap but trying to get better for this weekend, wish us luck cause we will need it!

you poor thing!! I was also very sick Friday night with some kind of virus but was feeling better by Saturday afternoon - you can call me ANYTIME and I'll do whatever you need done... I kind of miss those competition weekends (kind of ;)) so I'd be happy to fill in! Looks like they did really well and had fun... call me about her schedule for this weekend coming up -- Emily would like to come and watch if we can work it out.

Sympathy coming in droves at you. I got sick for the second time this month. YUCK. I am so sick of winter. Glad you are feeling better and Mackenzie did well. She looks so grown up all dolled up.
